Eagle watching/Bird Watching
Golden eagles, Sea eagles, buzzards
Service Description
Many large bird of prey species including the golden eagle use our croft as hunting ground on a daily basis. The birds use the Cnoc a Chais Bige(The Big Cheese) viewpoint as a wind lift to hold a still position whilst they scan the surrounding fields for food. The birds are most active during spring and summer but can be seen here all year round. They also land on the rocky edges of the viewpoint and observe their surroundings. (we don't guarantee that you will definitely see the birds but we enjoy seeing them on regular basis). During spring the larger birds will even take Lambs as prey thus showing how powerful these birds really are. The charge for this is only for access to our land which gives you the best view of the birds and also includes the use of our Facilities and refreshments are available. There is no time limit to your stay within open hours. We also have many other exciting bird species on the croft and this year have enjoyed a flock of sand martin birds that have taken up home here on the croft. We are soon introducing a photography hide.
